He Will Make Your Paths Straight
Websters defines joy as great pleasure or happiness. Not just a
little pleasure but great pleasure! Synonyms are bliss, gladness
and glee. The verse above in Romans connects our joy with
trusting in the Lord.
Proverbs 3:5-6 states:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make
your paths straight.
This is of course much easier said than done. Recently I walked into an office and the news was on.
I intentionally do not normally watch the news but it was on in the
room. I found myself quickly becoming anxious. Within five
minutes I was worried about our financial security, about safety in
flying on an airplane and a measles outbreak!! My mind did not go
directly to: I will trust in the Lord for my financial, physical and
travel safety. It went to: do we need to buy/sell stock, do I need to
forget a summer vacation etc. I needed to redirect myself and
remind my mind that God is watching over me. He is a good
Father and I need to trust him in all these areas. As I did, my
peace and joy returned.
As you trust in Him, he will fill you with all joy-be filled with great
pleasure!
