Patience Is a Gift

Patience as a gift

I recently had an issue with my fairly new car in which it won’t always start when I press the button that says “start”. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and they cannot figure out what is causing this issue. I am trying to be patient and kind to the service guy- it’s not his fault the mechanics can’t figure out the cause but he is the one I have contact with. We all have those situations when our patience and kindness are tested. I realized no matter how hard I tried to be patient, by the 3 rd visit it was getting increasingly more frustrated. I noticed no matter how hard I tried I could not will more patience to myself. It was then I remembered that patience is a fruit of the Spirit. This means I don’t personally produce this fruit for myself. I need to allow the Holy Spirit to work in me to deposit this fruit. When you find yourself in frustrating circumstances and your patience is lacking, turn to the Holy Spirit. He is the one who can fill you with this fruit- you cannot produce it on your own! Take comfort in that you only need to ask for patience.
