Wait Patiently For The Lord
PSALM 37:7
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when
people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked
schemes.” – Psalm 37:7
Being patient while being wronged
I would assume that most of us feel wronged in some way almost every day. Some
occurrences are small and easier to get over like a car pulling out in front of you, a rude
comment or not being thanked. Other instances cause much deeper wounds. Not being
included, being cheated on, lied to, stolen from, etc. Theses wrongs get on the inside of
us and become wounds that fester. We usually feel the need to right these wrong. We
want to vindicate ourselves, make things right. We long for them to apologize, confess,
bring restitution, or whatever will make us feel the wrong is acknowledged and
addressed.
While this is how our human hearts respond, the Lord has a different solution. He asks
us to step aside, forgive and let Him vindicate us. Deuteronomy 32:36 states : “For the
Lord will vindicate His people and will have compassion on His servants” While that
sounds amazing- know this won’t be on our timetable. We are told to be patient. Sorry- I
wish I had a more satisfying word for you but do know- God will vindicate you. He will
right all the wrongs. Ask for patience, be still and know God can bring a more fulfilling
and fitting vindication in the right time.
