He Delights In You

The Lord your God is with you,

the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you;

in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

There are a lot of Bible verses on Joy- most of them are

extolling us to be joyful in our trials and tribulations. Advice

that when I am anxious, I need to find comfort and joy in the

Lord. My strength will be found in the Lord……I could go on

with examples for quite a while. And intellectually I know this

to be true. I have experienced it. It honestly doesn’t really make

sense sometimes. How can I find joy in the middle of my

despair? But God is above all and greater than all my despair

and in Him I somehow find joy.

But- sometimes I am just worn out and tired. I use the word

“weary” more than I care to. And I am hearing this from so

many friends that they are just so tired. Just going to the

grocery store and seeing empty shelves (no eggs again!)

triggers that anxiety and weariness. When I am struggling to

find my joy in the Lord, Zephaniah reminds us in these times He

will rejoice over me with singing. Wait- what??? Not only that

but he will come as a mighty warrior!

The Lord, truly my knight in shining armor. When I can not

muster up joy in my trials, he will come to me and cover me in

his joy. If you are struggling to find joy in this season of life-

turn to the One who can cover you with his rejoicing.
